What to see in the galleries and garden

What to see in the galleries and garden

The museum’s focus is modern and contemporary Latin American and Latinx art. MOLAA was founded in Long Beach in 1996 by Dr. Robert Gumbiner, and its collection and exhibitions connect that focus to a Long Beach institution.

The Robert Gumbiner Sculpture & Events Garden was inaugurated in 2006 and has a permanent display of more than 15 abstract and figurative sculptures. Works include bronze, wood, metal, stainless steel and polychrome metal. Admission includes the garden when it is open, but MOLAA advises calling ahead to confirm it is available for viewing.

Food and drinks are not allowed in the galleries. You can eat in the outdoor space, where seating is limited and offered first come, first served. If you are planning a separate visit to the city’s other major art museum, what to know about visiting the Long Beach Museum of Art is a related option.
